Good Tone

Not my type of music, but I like the tone she's getting here, and wow, what a talent!

Yep, Esperanza's amazing. Whether you're a fan of that particular style or not, you have to admire her abilities. She plays bass, she sings, both at the same time, and IN 5/4 TIME no less. And she's easy on the eyes too.

Yes, Missy Raines is something special.

That Esparanza is pretty good, too...

I play and sing in 5/4 time a lot, usually while everyone is playing a waltz. :o

Been fortunate enough to see ES play twice at the Kennedy Center. So much talent! Thanks for sharing, Cat!

I never had heard of her until I saw a post Ron Block made on FB about seeing her live. I did some research out of curiosity. The 5/4 stuff goes totally against my grain. I don't see the point :| Do people play 5/4 time just because they can?

I am right there with you, Cathead. I think "because they can" is *exactly* why they do it. It does nothing for me, although when it's done right and it's subtle, you don't even notice it, and it's not hard to "feel." Other odd-meter time signatures, not so much.

Wow! What a talent. I checked out Cat's lead and ended up watching several of her segments-about a half hour's worth and I really enjoyed a lot of it. It's not blluegrass, which of course I love, but I could listen to her fairly often! Thanks, Cat, for making my Tent a little bigger!
