Hand Carved American-made, JT Holovnia Bass. Down to $5500

Post by mooseonbass » Wed Sep 23, 2015 2:15 pm

For Sale is a bass by J.T. (Joe) Holovnia of Shrewsbury, MA. This is bass #10 of around 20 basses that he made and was built in December of 1997. Holovnia basses have been praised by the likes of Ellis Marsalis and are excellent jazz or bluegrass instruments. This bass has been used professionally since 1997 by its one owner. It has a hand-carved, Sitka spruce top and sides and a flat back made of tulip poplar with hand inlaid 3-layer purfling. It is a beautiful blonde color and speaks with a strong and unique voice. This is a large but easily playable bass with individual tuners and a nice thick and comfortable neck, a thick ebony fingerboard and a carbon fiber endpin. This is a unique, hand-built, American-made instrument.

Mensure : 41 7/8”
Total length: 73 ¼”
Rib depth: 9” (6 7/8” at the neck joint)
Width of Upper Bout: 20 ½”
C bout: 14 ¼”
Lower Bout: 27”

Asking $5500 (motivated seller just dropped price from 8K) near Boston. Will deliver within a drivable distance but could ship if buyer pays and arranges it. The pickup is not included.
