Re: Silvers

Threw me also. Mine are Super Silvers and not Silver Slaps. They are a little higher tension than my Innovation Blacks, also a lot larger.

Silvers

I have the Innovation Blacks on my Upton and love the sound. Just put Innovation Supper Silvers on my Kay to try them out.
They sound a tad twangy, will they mellow out with time like my blacks did?

Re: The Official "Show Off Your Bass Here" Thread

The pics really do it justice, it's a little rougher than it looks. Needs a new bridge and nut. Fingerboard needs dressing. You can't make out the first number in the serial number on the label but it is followed by 000. A little below the label is the number 8000 handwritten in the back. I thought ...

Re: The Official "Show Off Your Bass Here" Thread

The Kay bass I posted was purchased used in 1949 by a friend of mine and fellow bassist. He played it until he passed in 2008. I am fortunate enough to be the next owner as long as I promised to play it and not just let it set. Once it gets the proper setup I will play it very much.

Serial number 8000, so it's either a 40 or 41 C-1 best I can tell.

Re: Mic'ing your bass

ric, let me know how it works for you. depending on where we are playing I may swing the arm out a little and angle the mic toward the bass. Setting the mic at the f-hole seemed to give me a lot of the woof woof sound and I don't know enough about a sound system to ever get that adjusted out.
